The last half of chapter 36 came out today, and to be honest, the outcome of Drakon’s attempted escape was rather obvious. I mean, it was highly unlikely that his brother wouldn’t catch up, and the drama of a confrontation was just too good to miss.
But still, I felt so, so sorry for Drakon. He’s genuinely trying to save her, and just when everything was going more or less well, Serendine herself decides duty comes first.
If you look closely you can actually pinpoint the exact moment his heart breaks.
What makes it even worse is that he does understand what she is saying, as he sees so much of his past self in her words. It’s precisely because he understands that he knows what her choice would mean for her.
And then Barbarossa appears and he gets defeated in less than 3 seconds by a giant rat because apparently it was not clear enough everything was going to hell without a curb-stomp battle.
Chapter 37 will probably feature the awakening of his Household Vessel, and my concern is that, according to a certain flashback, Drakon had already been assimilated when Ja’far was still a kid. And if that comes now… .
Oh well, at least he still gets Saher in the end… .
On a absolutely non related and anticlimactic note, obvious token Heliohaptian is obvious. He’s called Memphis, btw.
